Quick Info

How PSL works (in a nutshell):

Each first Sunday of any month the titleholder tries to defend the title against a challenger. Every last Sunday of any month everyone who signed up may try to become the new challenger. Who wins the title 3 times in a row becomes Grandchampion and is blocked for the next titlematch. Times are 6pm for FFA 1v1, 7pm for Instagib 1v1, 8pm for Capture 3v3, 9pm for CTF 4v4, and 10pm for InstaCTF 3v3 (German Time).

PSL History (in a nutshell):

The first PSL games took place on April 22nd 2007 (travel back in time: read the cubeengine-thread). Back then, the game used to be called Sauerbraten (only) and PSL used to be an acronym for Premier Sauerbraten League.  At this time the PSL was a continuous league in insta 1on1 and capture 3on3 only - similar to a ladder. After two seasons, consisting of 10 weeks each, the PSL turned into a monthly tournament, similar to what it is today. Over time, more and more game modes were played, rules became more detailed and finally we started to require the usage of our precompiled anti-cheat binary in May 2009.
